Also check Gold Miner's thread, "Diary of a new Swift Driver". There's a list there that's more concise and current. Take as little as possible. You'll have to move it every wake up to the bunk and every sleep to the seat.

wow, just found this...but i'm leaving in a few hours for orientation and mentoring with swift. Im taking greyhound of course. I TRIED to pack the only duffle bag i have BUT i would need my medium backpack for a carry on. I dont have the $15 for a stupid greyhound 2nd baggage ticket. Can i take a small-medium suitcase and my duffle or backpack? I know whatever has to stay with me on top bunk,...but would a small-medium (soft sided) suitcase be okay? They said bring 7-14 days of clothes,...and THAT plus a pillow and blanket wont fit,...not for a stupid bus anyway.

Superscooter. I think you be ok
Remember....you will only sleep on top bumk if truck is sitting still. You can place the bags in passenger seat or floorboard. While truck is moving, you can place each bag at an end of bunk. There will be a cabimet on each side of bunkroom to keep bags from falling. Or you can use the bunk straps

You should be good with the duffle and backpack or the soft side. Pack what you'll use first in the soft side and as it empties use it for a laundry bag. Also remember you can wear some of it multiple days and most truck stops have washers and dryers except Loves. If need be you can sleep with a bag/duffle at the foot of the bunk however when you get to the team phase you will be required to sleep in the lower bunk while your mentor is driving.

If you still have time get a sleeping bag instead of the blanket and roll your pillow up inside. Seven days of clothing is plenty but you might want extra t-shirts. Also get some wet wipes. Flatbedders do get sweaty and you might have to roll out without time to shower. A quick wipe down and a fresh t-shirt is better than nothing.

Good luck but I think you'll do fine. You seem to have the right good attitude. When you get on the Greyhound sit with the craziest looking person on the bus; the ride is mind numbing boring but crazy people can be entertaining
    Or not...

Big thanks. Got things down to a duffle and backpack. Went from 14 shirts to 8 and just two pants plus ones wearing. Managed to get blanket and travel pillow into backpack. So done panicing...lol.
