Out on the West Coast, they got the WARN Act notice and then 6 months later, they laid them all off. Some bid the plants if they had the seniority, the others were on the street. Pacific Tank Lines picked up the Chevron work, and Cox did some. We hired a bunch of the Chevron people. Not surprisingly, only a few worked out.

Are you in China hauling fuel? If so we'd like to hear what it's like and what differences there may be. I once talked to a driver up in Portland OR that came from ther old USSR and he was telling me the big difference. Mostly in pay. He told me what he made in a day took months in the USSR.

It's just the federal law that requires business to notify employees of an impending layoff or plant closure. Chevron was just making sure all their ducks were in a row.

why didn't the chevron people work out?
down here in south florida bp & chevron got rid of their trucks in 2009.
shell got rid of them maybe around 2006. everything here is done by outside carriers.

That's exactly what did it for me........ I was union one time and we were bought out....... the buyer expected all of us to stay on at 60% wages and reduced bennies.
I woudn't do it then and I won't now. I tendered my resignation to coincide with the take over.( As did 3 of my bothers )
They only thought they were going to enjoy new profits from union busting.....until their rookies solidified a tank, ran others out and cross dropped a few.

By the load, but also paid the difference of load vs hourly. If the load pay ends up being less than what the hourly rate would be, the difference is added to our gross pay. Not sure of the practice as it seems as though, unless for reporting purposes, it would just be easier to pay the whole thing by the hour. At any rate, I make as much as I did on my BEST weeks otr, so I'm very happy where I'm at.NDBADLANDS Thanks this.
