I have had two Otr jobs. I'm applying this week, probably with the last company.
I have a west coast cdl that has been from my home base for years but I'm in the south and applying from here. Do I need a license from thestate I am in?
Also I don't know where my medical card is when I went toorientations last times I had one but they had me get a new one. Should I get one before I apply or wait to get one in orientation?
Thanks
Before I apply do I need a local license and med card?

If you've moved, I think you're required to update your license regardless...I would probably spend the few minutes it takes but wouldn't let it keep me from applying...

Find out if you'll have to take a physical for whatever company u deside. If you do then don't get another med card, you'll get one after taking their physical. If you're now living in the south, then by all means update your license.

You have 30 days from the time you move to get a license in the state you "RESIDE" in. I had moved from GA to FL and got hired with a company but still had my GA license because I had only been in FL for 2 weeks. Some companies will require you to obtain your Med Card from their Doctors.

As for the license, you only had a few days to switch it over. In MY state, you would only have had 10 days!!
As for the DOT physical. Ask the employer. Mine accepted the one I already had. Most employers however do send you to their doctor for a new one.
Just DO NOT get a physical until you find out first. -
The thing about the license is companies will require you to have a license in their hiring area. In other words, if you have a CA license, but the company doesn't hire out of CA, they won't hire you. It doesn't matter if you don't live there anymore.

Oh pray tell, please tell us all where you get this nonsense from??
provide us with valid links to back up what you say, even company websites that purport to say this??
Last time I looked, a driver's CDL license was good anywhere to be hired. No MATTER what state he lived in.
