Yeah, don't do any homework, make sure the truck has about a million or so miles on it, have no one check it out, and then make sure that the payments are higher than you could have received from a dealer on a better truck. Then come on here and complain that the XYZ company ripped you off on a L/P.

    Carry On!

Whoa, wait a minute, He has been running for 5 years now, and maybe keeping records like he owned the truck, so he is all set to go.

OP, you have been doing that, haven't you???? If not, FORGET IT

Finance a truck instead of leasing. Leasing is just somebody over charging for a truck ie the truck is a 20K truck but they are tacking on about 25K in interest and all the other fine print so you end up paying 45K for a 20K truck. Then after the 3 or 4 years it takes to pay for it you have a truck that is worth about 10 and needing an inframe amongst many other costly repairs because 4 years prior the truck had 900K miles on it and was beat to all hell when you decided to lease it.

Does that sound like a good deal to you?

    I'm in my third Lease-Purchase truck. It's mine Dec. 8th 2012.

It hurts but it can work.

The newest and most interesting Lease Program:http://drivesammons.com/

I've never driven for them , and have NO EXPERIENCE with Sammons- but this program looks promising if it is what they advertise.

I have read that also. I am talking about the usual lease purchase you see at these places trying to sell trucks. The wont take cash for them and wont allow you to finance it anywhere but with them and they try to force you into a lease program with them. I dont see the point in that. Why not just go to a mega carrier and do a lease through them and atleast get some good out of it like the benefits of fuel pricing prepass EZ pass permits base plates and those things

Mega Carriers have discovered ways to supplement their income by taking advantage of O/O's. They sell- and resell trucks, shop services, support and services to Leased O/O's. In fact, I suspect some companies make more money on Lease-Purchase programs than on Freight.

That's what happens when Big Government gets involved in business- the free market becomes contorted and ends up actually serving Big Government, not the industry's customers. So we have Federal Prisoner retraining programs (http://www.unicor.gov/about/about_fpi_programs/inmate_transition/ippemploy_resource.cfm), Veterans' programs (https://www.militaryhub.com/article.cfm?id=249 ), programs for unemployed people (http://richtruckdriver.com/freecdltraining.php ), and few of them like, respect, or want this career. They hate their jobs and just want to suck a paycheck out of it.
