Cheapest Brokers?

    You could if truck driver wasn't so dumb and simple minded reguardless of what the rates 300 will still have to deadhead. How many times have you pulled off an exit where there was 3-5 truck stops and one of them was selling fuel at half price. You cant go to a Pete dealer and they say since we have 30 trucks and you are the only one on the lot you can have this $130K truck for $75K. Doctors wont cut rates in half, car dealers wont, tire shop wont, and the list goes on. It has nothing to do with load densities but more to do with driversgiving in to the pressure. Drivers will haul cheap just to get a load out so they wont be one of the 300 deadheading and next time the will have to do it cheaper until the realize that it is costing them more to go get it and haul it that what it would have cost them to just deadhead out. Some will try to justify its paying for their fuel but what about you time, the extra wear and tare that 42K lb load is going to cost. Its all about a dollar the day of drivers sticking together is gone. I consider a Klan(KKK) a better friend that most truck driver at lease the will look me in the face and stab me. You go to a truck stop and drivers are friendly as heck but the are steady stabing you in the back just to under cut you rates and get the load. I have learned not to even talk to drivers about what i am hauling at what rate and for who. We are out worst emenies but continue to blame it on shippers and brokers. We are the ones hauling it so we are the ones that dicate what it get hauled for. Instead of complaining about cheap brokers or shippers get off you ### and do something about it. If you are not the solution then you are the problem. I refuse to be the problem I will not haul cheap

    I've never been an O./O but do brokers ever tell you how much the cust is paying?I think the heavier the load the more per mile you should get paid.Afterall common since tells you you're using twice as much fuel hauling a 43 k load.

    Heavier doesn't equate to more money....
    Tarped Economy grade lumber pays for sheyat....Those loads are usually 48K...But the mills will always try sneak on another 2K on the wagon...Those loads will normally go for under $1.20/M and they go less....

    I have hauled EMT and GIP....About 20 joints of it from 3/4" to 6" from Long Beach, CA to Bellingham, WA for $2.30/M...My biggest mistake was leaving all that open deck empty...I had 20' left.....But it was a JIT load and by the time I got loaded...It was after 3 pm PDT......

    Brokers only care about moving it as cheap as possible. Weight, fuel mileage, routes, these things mean nothing to them. They will offer the same $1 a mile or less on a 45,000 lb load that they offer on the 10,000 lb ones. I called on a load this morning in some backwater part of a state where moonshining is probably a way of life. The route to it's final destination was across an equally ardous route. 18,000 lbs load. Now you would think anyone would look at this load and say to themselves there's no way I'd even touch that for less than $2.50 a mile and you would also think it's one of those weird loads that no-one wants to do. The broker offers up $1.42 a mile and that is before I count my deadhead. He quickly hung up when I named my rate. Another wasted call.

    Thats the problem most of the O/O don't look at p/u and d/o locations.
    I always look after going to some places I think enbreeding is very common.
    nothing going in and zero coming out = wasted time and fuel.

    I look at that. There was plenty of freight outbound from where I was at this morning, and where that cheap load also went to. It actually went to a good place, but oh well, it was too cheap. And so I ended up doing what I am now (a different load altogether) for my rate, to another place that has plenty of freight, and I also have the next one booked up. So it worked out pretty good.
