Ive heard Werner quit putting APU's in their trucks which kind sucks but oh well. Do they have a limit on the size of inverter that you are allowed to put in their trucks?

They have started putting apu's in the new trucks. My 2012 Volvo, idles AND has apu.

Right on thanks. I had heard that they found out the the APU's were taking to long to see a benefit over idling so they had quit putting them in their trucks. How do you like driving for Werner, Nyman? How long have you been there?

The APU issue is hit and miss. They're throwing climacabs on here and there,but i'd rather not have one at all since they set your overidle limits as low as the ICE APUs.
You're allowed to use any inverter that plugs into a 12V outlet. I think I have a 650watt continuous with 850watt peak. Runs laptops and charges up a cordless drill, but won't run a dremmel. I'll hit start assist on the climacab once my low voltage shutoff kicks in, but I usually can only get 3 2 hour recharges with it, assuming I'm not running the climate control. Since both my heat and A/C have been busted for over a month, I've not had a problem with it.
However, I'm on the anheuser busch account, so we are required to idle under a load of beer below 32 degrees, so I'm usually stuck idling away up north. -
I was told that the apu's trucks and low fuel economy trucks are being pulled from the fleet as fast as possible they want a fleet mpg average of 7.0 by February of next year

That's probably why they crammed 300 2012 kenworth T700s into the columbus terminal.
Rookies can still get an 07/08 with an APU, but they're too beat up for anyone given a choice to really take a look at them. Team/trainer trucks usually only get a climacab at best, because they aren't supposed to be stopping anyway. The only way to guarantee you're in a truck with an APU is to buy one from fleet sales. -
I wonder how much the retired trucks from the fleet cost, the 50's series they are pretty much gone except the day cabs

Somewhere around $35,000-$65,000 depending on the truck. A POS freightliner pushing 700K miles will cost a lot less than a clean peterbilt. They should have the last of the long noses off the lot soon, so the average price will drop a bit. Plenty of T600s should be coming down the line soon.

It wouldn't be so bad if they didn't have a "hand me down" system of managing trucks.
The one I'm driving right now is 2 years old with 320,000 miles, and if I were in the market for an $85,000 truck, i'd buy it.
Teams, trainers, and million milers are the only ones that get new trucks, then they turn them in around 200,000 miles, and 150,000+ safe mile drivers get first pick at them, and then whatever is left on the lot goes to rookies and newbies.
If I were sticking around, they'd probably have me turn it in after the warranty runs out next year, then shuffle it between a dozen or so new drivers over the next two years, during which time it will be trashed, smashed, and thrashed, until it is totalled or sold to fleet sales so they can bandage it up, hose it down, and make it someone else's problem.
