If you travel on a trip permit, report the miles on the IFTA return for documentation on the next IRP application. This allows you to add the jurisdiction within the 100% on the IRP application that corresponding to the mileage-reporting. Many drivers don't report the miles of the trip permit thinking that it will cover both IRP and IFTA tax.
