Hi all,
I'm starting orientation with Swift on March 5th in Phoenix. I have my 3 days of orientation and then 2 days of flatbed training. Does there happen to be any flatbed mentors on this forum or can anybody recommend a flatbed mentor?
Thanks

flat-bed mentors are a little few and far between that's all i have to say.
Good luck!Blyth Thanks this. -
I understand that I am not hired by Swift and that there is no guarantee that I will be hired. I also don't expect that I will get to pick which mentor I get if I am hired. However, I don't see what it hurts to ask ahead of time. As I'm sure that a mentor might have some pull or be able to request a student. I have read other threads in the Swift part of this forum where it appears that a students/mentors can talk beforehand and possibly get it worked out where they are put together for the training. Thus, being the reason for my original post. If anybody has any valuable input, I would appreciate it. Thank You to those who have responded.

If you know one and both agree there would not be a problem at all. Swift does strive for a good relationship between student and mentor. Diesalgirl or Schmud might be able to help you find a good one.

I think that there are 17 flatbed mentors based out of the Phoenix terminal. I spent my 1st 4 days on an O/O mentors truck before I got off because of a questionable safety practice (on the part of the mentor).
My 2nd mentor was a company driver based out of Gary. He was an excellent trainer and once he realized that I wasn't going to kill either of us (I had driven before) pretty easy going.Blyth Thanks this.
