That was the other one he has that looked ok to me as well. I am on the fence at the moment about buying old and used....but cheap....or buying restored and expensive. If i can get a truck in working order for under 15000 dollars i will go for it but its gotta be work ready. Appells inventory looks more like what a restorer would be buying to fix up, not what i need to start working right away.

I called about '72 that was for sale for a few weeks right down the road from me. It had only 298k original miles and was completely stock. My dad could remember when the guy bought it new. By the time I had the $12,000 they wanted for it, it was long gone

Best of luck in your search. Let me know if u get REAL serious about buying one from Apell cuz I can drive over there and really check it out if need be.kw9's rock Thanks this. -

Ive been by their place several times looks like alot of project trucks. Id be nervous About getting something to go make money with.Their mostly old clapped out units you would see behind a barn.JUST MY THOUGHTS they might be top notch trucks what do i know, usually they are priced low though from what ive seen.

Ex father in law had that same truck first semi I ever drove. Happened to catch part of a show called American Trucker tonight. Dude that host the show is trying to restore an old ford. He found a gold mine if old cabovers in Mexico He was there for the Baja 1000 dont think he ever gave the name of the junk yards he was at though.

Taking it OTR. Its got 720,000 original miles, and 17,000 on an in-frame, so I'm not terribly worried about the prospect, but I'm beefing up my insurance for towing, etc. nonetheless. It did very well for the 400 miles I drove it. Starts up faster than the modern trucks I've driven, and runs smooth as butter, even bobtail on its torsion suspension thanks to it being 330" long. Talking to kwpartsguy so I can get all the parts I need to get the air system up to DOT/FMCSA's liking.
Also, figured out what that salvage yard's name was that I couldn't recall.
Vander Haag's in IA. Similar/lower quality than Appell, but I think their major aim is parting units out.
