I have just gotten a lease on a 2009 volvo 780. I am looking for good independent contractor companies to work for. I have been looking at Schneider which has the best pay so far, and I have been looking at USA Truck which isn't to bad but doesn't pay as good as schneider. If anyone knows of any good companies that have Independent Contractors please let me know or if you have any info or tips please let me know as well, thanks:biggrin_25525:

YIKES. Hope you're sitting on a ton of cash.

Some people find decent work with JB Hunt, but there are hundreds of threads on dozens of companies on this site you can read over.

Hope you are planning on being out for a while since you live in FL.

Look for a solid percentage company. Mileage will be the slow death of ya.

What are you looking to pull?

I worked for an O/O doing "power only" loads for JB
It was OK, they paid fast and seemed decent, the biggest complaint
I had was they always kept me on the east coast, furthest west I went was Texas
and they tend to be very heavy loads, (44 -46 k)

Other then that it was OK, some of their trailers are trashed, some were brand new..

I think that you are going to have a problem finding anyone to lease on your truck, with you being the primary driver, given your experience level. I know that most companies that, I have looked into all require at least 2 years, Give or take. I not sure if this would apply if your were to run your own authority and insurance, And just use the carrier as a freight source, not familar with this type of setup.

Why does someone lease a truck without a job for it?
