Just out of curiosity, what's the rule on a cased O/O shotgun with 20" barrels?
Quicker and deadlier with that than a handgun anyway.
is messing with other truck drivers equipment common?

So you blow some guy away that's messing with your trailer.
Chances are you won't be needing the trailer for 10 to 20. -
Wasn't really asking for that reason. Just asking for basic security purposes. Long arm rules are much laxer than handgun. As long as it's cased and unloaded, you're legal anywhere, as far as I know. And after years of grouse hunting, I can have it out of the case and two in, with two more between the fingers before you can get that door open. And if somehow I miss after all four (and don't die myself from sheer embarassment for doing so), when I'm out, I'll just beat you to death with it ;^)
Realize that shooting somebody for messing with your equipment would be rather stupid. After all, you can fix it, so it would in no way be justified.
Far better to take his picture, picture of his truck, call cops, and then print and post said pictures online and in every truck stop you go through.
That way, he can lay awake at night worrying about his equipment... -
Post State Statutes regarding firearms in a CMV or admit you don't know what you are talking about and stop posting lies, stories, fibs, whatever you call them. End of story.

That depends on the state and what transpires after initial contact. In Texas for example, you may defend property with deadly force. In FL, you may not, unless you have an immanent fear for your life. Texas Penal code 9.42 FL Statute 776.013

Texas is a little different - in more ways than one. There are 49 other states that will most likey prosecute you for aggravated assault, manslaughter or murder - depending on those circumstances - unless you can show your life is being threatened.
Case in point... a number of years back a retired cop in Denver shot a burglar fleeing from a garage he'd broken into. The cop got 5 to 10. -
I carry a 40 cal glock 27 in my truck at all times... would i shoot someone for messing with my truck nope...would i shoot someone that is trying to get in my truck with intent to rob or do harm to me yup but only if he has a wepon...Messing with trucks has been going on as long as ive been driving...lot easier to just check everything out before ya roll

Nobody has ever been able to show me where in the federal code firearms are prohibited in CMVs.

As I posted everything says fed is unclear on specifics but at the same time every site I checked said each state has the right to enforce its own law on the fact. And again I've been stopped in Ky in a cmv and when my ccdw shows up it raises a red flag and I'm informed it is illegal in Ky. Most laws are written where normal ppl don't know or understand every aspect thus loopholes that are used against us everyday.
