Hey fellow drivers just wondering how you guys approach intersections.
I ran accross an intersection today. It was downhill seed limit was 60 I was going 50. Point is that light changed from green to yellow I was 100 feet away. I hit my jakes and even left a skid but the truck was not going to stop within the line. So I honked and ran it. The light changed from yellow to.red as soon as I was in the intersection. So about a mile later I got pulled over by a local and was given a citaton.
I am contesting this ticket because I feel as even though I attempted to stop there was no physical way of a loaded truck 79k gross was capable of stopping within 100 feet. Any advice? Thank you.

That argument will not hold up. Do not try and represent yourself it won't work. Either accept it and pay the fine or hire a lawyer to try and get it reduced or changed. Depends what kind of shape your license is in and or how much you want to spend. I'd say an attorney will charge you $500-1000.00. Good luck!

License is clean. Will look for a lawyer tomorrow.

You can buy an insurance that will have a lawyer represent you and you don't even have to be there .The city does not want to have the trial and your lawyer will have it put off.
This is a moving violation and if your lawyer is half assed, he will get it reduced to a lesser, non-moving violation. This will affect your license less, and believe me , that's worth it. Tickets sometimes come in bunches. You don't have a clue why but they can.
Check in any flying -j or look for it on the internet. Its really not expensive for the relief you get from it.It entitles you to representation in all the 48 lower states.
I used to have it and I bought it when I needed it , just like you do right now.If you buy it , they will represent you for this case. Just pay them and forget it. I don't have it now because I don't drive anymore..
heh heh

I forgot to tell you to start watching out for redlights. If a light is stale, expect it to change and drive accordingly. You know better. What happened is your fault.

Already got my pics and timed the lights, they are not consistent. Some were 2-3 seconds off. And about 200 feet before the intersection there is a sign obstruc
ting the signal light.
As I've stated some of you sound really close minded and would rather settle rather than contest.has times nowadays soften you guys up? I am going to present my case to the judge and if he sides with me or not what matters is the principle.

No, Smith System training. The driver was NOT driving defensively , he approached a stale green and it changed on him. A 'lil mama in with a load of kids could have been crossing there.....or gramps, anybody. As a professional he is supposed to be in full control of his unit at all times, he was not.
That may not go down very well but that's the truth.
Being said: Get one of the ticket lawyers and make it go away. Make the lil mama I spoke of, your wife with your kids.......

Through yourself at the mercy of the court saying, 'Your honor, I assessed the green light might change and slowed to an appropriate speed, but the light changed unexpectedly and unusually quick." Many of these lights do not take into account heavy trucks and change signals unreasonably quick. Measure the timing of the light and look for research online to support your arguement that the 'light is improperly timed because it doesnt adequately take trucks into account.'
Hopefully you'll get it reduced to a non-moving violation. Prayers will help too!thesvg Thanks this.
