Flatbed is not hard to learn. Plenty of info on youtube that will teach you how to tarp and secure. Plus people always willing to help.
January thru June pulled a van then bought a flat. Grossed just under 200k last year on less than 90K miles. Had I started with flats I would have blown that out.
But area you run is a key no matter what you pull. I stay mostly in the midwest. 200k is should not be that hard. On 48 weeks a year running you need to average a little better that $4k per week. VERY doable with a flat. Gotta work a little harder with a van.
But at the end of the day it is about what you net not gross.
Where can I gross $200k per year?

I have just one question for those guys racking in the big buck...
At the end of the year, with everything said and done, fuel, maint, truck/trailer payments, mortgage.... How much of that big money is left ?grizzly Thanks this. -
Most o/o pay quarterly projected estimates to the IRS and any overages are credited as a refund. Tax scrutiny is much higher for o/o than company driver but I would estimate on 200k the tax bill comes to 35-50k per anum

One thing you can do to lower/eliminate the tax bill is to put the money back into the business. You can improve your equipment, buy a apu, a trailer or another truck. -
Thanks everyone for your replies! This definately helps and points me in the right direction...

You can GROSS $200K annually with a flatbed Hot Shotting oil field equipment. In order to do this you MUST be located in the correct area.
