Another productive week at EPES. Never realized I can run 2,000 miles just going from NH toVA. I do think one of our stops in south Boston needs to get some his....lol. The people there are not the nicest people.....:(. Anyway, still trying to find my zen with the company. Really trying to figure out how to save time on this elog. I always have driving time left but no on duty. Running down to the minute sucks. Well enough whinning,, how are my friends out there doing?

yeah you'll have alot of those run to the last minute days lol.....sure makes trip planning and knowing where you're going to stop for the day take on a whole new meaning....

had a pretty good week even though i sat for almost a day and a half waiting to deliver one load....started out with a load going to pitman.....then had a long one with a two stop pickup sayreville, nj to carlisle and then all the way down to marianna, fl......got the pickups done and then realized there were 29 days in feb this year lol that means i picked up the last stop tue morning and don't deliver until thur 2300.....get down to florida and find a spot at the pilot and check to see if there's a chance at early delivery.....50/50 with those....sometimes they do sometimes they don't......dm says wouldn't hurt to call thur morning and just see if they'll take it early....get up thur morning and give them a call and you'd have thought i'd just asked the guy to bring his daughter over to hang out with me till delivery lol.....absolutely flipped out because i called to ask if they could get me in early....so, mark that on in the notebook to not do again......still, could have been worse places to sit and wait.....weather was great, was able to lay around with the windows open and the pilot was small so not alot of traffic or noise and was able to get 14 channels on tv.....

rolled on over thur night got there 15 minutes before appointment and then sat 5 hours waiting on the lumpers to unload 6 pallets and half a trailer floor load that was only stacked about waist high.....obvious they got paid by the hour......preplanned pickup was 20 miles away coming home so crept out of the cons and took a spot behind the other guys parked on the side of the road there and finished my 10......worked out just right that my 10 was up in time to get me to the pickup 5 minutes before the appt.....

yeah leftdoor some of these places it's obvious the folks there really love their job.....lol.....NOT.......one place there in richmond you'll go to eventually off of cofer rd.....the crusty old bat in the office there is just an absolute ray of sunshine hahahaha and will make no bones about telling you how useless drivers are and how she has no time for us at all.....just put on your best customer service smile and let it go in one ear and out the other for the 10 minutes it'll take you to get your paperwork from her and get out of there lol......and don't EVER show up there early or you'll really hear it from her.......only did that once won't ever do that again i go in there 5 minutes before my appointment now when i see i'm going there......couple of other places too but she stands out as one of the ones who needs to get laid the most lol......doubtful that's going to happen.....

the elog will get easier to work as you spend a couple of months with it....there are days i end up just like you describe.....out of time but driving hours left.....sometimes it just works out that way.....but you'll learn how to utilize it so you can maximize your time available......alot of ways to plan your day around it especially if you're preplanned on your next load before the next day/delivery starts......

good start to the week coming up......rolling off the yard after the race this evening and heading up to northern ohio so even with sitting almost a day and a half during the week i'll still end up with just over 2500 for the week......not bad for a weekend off and almost a day and a half off during the week.......

You had to have attended one of their "approved" schools. You can find a list on their web site.

    windsmith Thanks this.

I live in Richmond and I see "Short Haul Company Drivers" and "Short Haul Company Drivers" also "SE Regional OTR Independent Contractor" and "SE Regional OTR Company Driver" positions are hiring.

Can someone fill me in on the duties of these positions and what to expect as the pay weekly...very interested in Epes.

Hmm.. Unfortunately, the school I'm attending is not on their approved list, despite the fact that it's a NC community college program. I also don't appear to be in their hiring area. Funny, because I see their trucks coming through here almost every day. All may not be as it seems; I may contact one of their recruiters to see if they might be interested. I'd rather support a NC based company than go to an out of state employer.

Not a bad idea, worst they can do is tell you no dice. Maybe they'll know another company that's local based and hires.

Does the Valdosta, ga terminal have a shop? I am looking to have maintenance done during home time whenever possible. I asked a recruiter and she didn't know...
