I'm considering leaving a day job to purchase a cargo van or Sprinter contract to a company such as Panther Expedited or FedEx Custom Critical. Panther no longer requires a CDL for van with a GVWR under 10000 pounds.
Are these owner operators making money in this wretched economy? I'd like to gross at least $90-$100,000/yr. Is that possible if you say yes to every load and make it home every other week or so?
Any thoughts or advice will be taken very seriously, especially before I jump off the cliff of a "real job" into the arena of business owner.
Thanks!

Not going to happen in a van! Too many vans and your not going to get home that often and make good money as a expediter.
RickG Thanks this. -

Not even 1/2 in a van

heh heh heh heh
Honey you will be lucky to make 30000 dollars a year with a van and you will have to pay for your food , fuel and hotel bill out of that.
If a truck driver makes 50000 dollars a year driving an 18 wheeler he is doing pretty good
AND HE STILL HAS TO EAT OUT OF THAT.
--AND HE IS NEVER HOME---
AND HE HAS TO DRIVE WHETHER HE WANTS TO OR NOT TO MAKE THE TRUCK PAYMENT.
DO NOT QUIT THAT DAY JOB.
