50 miles of a casino? What kind of logic is that? Somebody loses their life's fortune decides to steal your truck to make back the money?

No for the most part it was due to service issues. they ran lots of JIT loads when i worked there and would lose accounts if their on time percentage was not in the high 90's. They had some that had fines for being late and some where the load did not get paid if late. They did not want a drivers free time to include gambling, drinking and skirt chasing.

Should be able to find a trucking job as long as good driving record, Theft shouldn't be your fault. Do you remember to lock the door when you left though? Nothing you can do abou place to theft, truck stop is the safest place to be.

Did US Express give you a written statement when you went to work allowing you to log off duty time if so then you are NOT responsible

I know for a fact when I worked for them, they gave you a notice in writing that when off duty and truck is locked up and trl is secure, padlock on door, then the driver was relieved of any & all liability .

Well in almost seven years that I worked there I never would of been allowed to drop that kind of load outside a terminal or a yard with security. And I hauled lots of high dollar loads at USX. And the only letter I remember was for like 30 minutes for lunch or something like that. Heck I remember USX firing drivers for breaking seals looking for mtys because people would seal up a mty trl to make it look loaded.

Got to read that employee manual because the one I got was pretty clear on HV loads. Only could drop at yard with 24hr security or at a terminal or service center. Never a mty lot or TS.

I worked at USX for almost 4 years and they were a fairly good company then, however they have gone downhill since. A couple of things I know have not changed however is their parking policies and what is defined as HVP. HVP is any load that has a high marketable value if stolen,ie electronics, certain chemicals and ALL TYPES OF CLOTHING this includes shoes Wide Glide. As for parking I was advised when I started there in 1998 that you must park in a secure lot(with 24 hr security) when home any time you are loaded. When unit is parked you must check loaded or empty you must check it every day.

I understand about here you live however knowing the Flylot up there is not secured and you have a potentially valuable load yes it would have been a better idea to park three hours away if it wad a secured area. Your dm is partly responsible IF you conveyed to them where the unit was and that there is no security at the Flylot.

I am sorry for what happened but chalk it up to a learning experience. And try to explain to anyone you apply to what your parking situation is. Some one will work with you,you may have to bite the bullet and take a really cruddy company. Just stick it out for a year or two and then move on to a better one.

They ceased to be a company any solo should want to drive for when they put all that drop and hook coast to coast frt on the rails and gave me a 3 penny raise to schlep team and lease driver frt to and from the customers. In a stripped down Columbia

Back when they acquired Southwest Motor Frt, PST and Victory express They where running me like a super solo and teams where lucky to get a hour a day to wash up and eat. Now they are just a company who is trying to be a JBH/ CRST hybrid

I only good thing this company has done for non team drivers is get rid of those autoshifts so they can pass a road test at the next company and not have to go work for IDC or DeBoar :biggrin_255:
