I guess you guys don't eat? Trust me it ain't no fun for the guy driving the tractor either. The worst vehicle to follow is the old dump truck with mud flaps 2 feet off the ground and rocks falling from the top of the bed or out the tailgate

Not to worry 24valve, I've been on both ends, once taking a combine halfway across the country in AZ and not on a truck. It's a real pet peeve to have to pass a tractor while in a truck though, especially if you're stuck in a truck that takes a mile to reach 50 MPH. I'm pretty good at seeing both sides being raised on a farm. I feel bad for the guy driving the road block and the guy having to get around them. Driving locally, that means we usually have to pass them on the way to where we're going and if it's a harvest crew, get around them on our next trips too depending on the miles to our location.

The question was asked from a point of what bothers us most as truck drivers:biggrin_255:

I passed a CR England truck on the Idaho scales last Thursday night LOL. He got the bypass, I got pulled in and weighed. And still managed to get over and parked in the parking area (crossing his lane) before he slooooooowly rolled past.

    No I wasn't stopped...I took a nap there ;)

Maybe he needed 2 dogs and a gun.

####### drivers (big truck & 4 wheelers) talking on their cellphones. They always seem to slow down without realizing it, and then speed up when they finally discover how slowly they're traveling. It always seems to happen just when I'm trying to pass, too. -URGETOKILL-

I was running with someone once. I was in the lead and he suddenly passed me and I looked over and he was on the phone. I kept the cruise set the same and he called on the phone about 20 minutes later and said he couldn't see me anywhere. Told him what happened and he didn't believe me. Just told him to call when he stopped and we would meet up.

one of the worse things is the 4-wheeler or big rig who rides in the hammer lane real slow ---never speeds up or gets into the granny lane.......RV's and 1\2 ton pickups pulling travel trailers are the other 2 things i hate......going 40-50 mph in a 70 slows down a lot of people at the same time

I was following a double-trailer gravel truck out of Laguna Canyon in CA just before they made the law requiring tarps... Doing about 65 mph on one of the last right-hand bends before getting to the 405, I watched a fist-sized rock fall from his rear trailer and kept an eye on it so I could avoid it. It bounced near the double-yellow line and up about 12 feet spinning like a turbo blade. I watched as it came down on a Ford Taurus in the oncoming lane, right through the windshield and then through the passenger seat like a missile. The driver was fortunate he had no passenger, as I'm sure it would have killed her instantly. I have no idea what happened after we passed, whether the Taurus driver maintained control of the car or not... I wasn't patient enough back then to turn around to check. I imagined that if it happened to me, I would have ducked down, thinking I was being shot at.

The truck driver never had a clue.

Well, in the driver's defense, pulling a set of spring-ride dumps is a very noisy affair, so I'm not suprised that the driver never noticed. A real dangerous thing I have seen (on a few occasions), are drivers pulling dumps that are riding around with the rear gate unlatched!(not the side-swing kind, of course, the top-hinged ones).

I went with manuf homes. However I made that choice because I am still new and the oversize is something I still allow more room for. RVs and such you watch a little more closely but passing a oversize 2 weeks ago my trailer caught a spot in the road and danced a little. That being the first time I felt the trailer sway on me I was startled. It was my own fault for moving over too far when passing to allow the extra room. But it got my attention in a hurry!
