Recent ratings on T.V. went something like this:
    1. Verizon
    2. Sprint
    3. T-Mobile
    4. ATT
I myself rock with TEAM VERIZON. Works everywhere I have been even in the woods!

When my husband worked for the armored car company, he would carry a company phone powered by Verizon so he could get calls for ATM repairs and would also carry his personal cell powered by AT&T. There were many, many, many, many times that the Verizon phone would drop calls and he would just pick up his AT&T phone and call them back to finish the call.

I've had Verizon since 1999, and in the past got so irritated with them, that I'd swear I was going to switch carriers. Glad I never followed through as right now, Verizon is second to none when it comes to overall coverage.

I have no TV data. But recent ratings of speaking to several thousand OTR drivers per year on their cell phones go like this:

    1. Verizon
    2. Sprint
    3. ATT
    4. T-Mobile

    For what it's worth...

Ive had at&t and verizon. There are alot of spots that both carries miss, while the other has service. Overall, I'm happier with verizon.

My wife and I are going to get Verizon, drop our 2 lines from our Tmobile plan and leave my daughter and dads lines active. through them. Tmobile is great in a metro area but less than stellar out in the boonies. Throw in the fact that some massive caps on roaming are coming pretty much soured me towards Tmobile and I've been a loyal customer for 4 years.

I can tell you that At&T's prepaid plan is dead from Just after Lincoln, NE all the way to Wyoming, somewhere. My son has At&t and he travels for his job, and when he's out west, we cannot call him. He has no service on the prepaid plan. Now I don't know about their contract plans, they may roam off of other towers.

For Rural coverage hands down Verizon is tops. They aggressively aquired many of the smaller carriers that serviced rural areas "including Alltel" which prior to being swallowed up by Verizon was king in rural "Lower 48".

Most prepaids don't have roaming where the contract plans will connect. I believe the virtual networks like Virgin Mobile that piggy back off of the major carriers suffer from the same issue, they only connect through the "home" network.
