    cptuttle,

Well to begin with there are postings from other drivers on this website (http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...river-health/124889-burton-propane-stove.html) who have posted witnessing drivers fired for this. Second I just cant imagine that many companies would be ok with cooking with an open flame in the cab. Certain hazmat loads are restricted from having an open flame near the truck. At the very least I would check with the company before doing it. Granted carrying the butane may not be that big of a deal. There is also the carbon monoxide issue. I know, open a window, but it is just one more reason the company would not want to open itself up to liability by allowing this.

I use a propane campstove while I am parked. No carbon monoxide issues yet. I use a freezer/refrigerator. Those coolers are a joke.

ummm!i see you're a student.from cleveland.do you have any experience?i do.and now i'll really rock you're world.i carry up to 5 cans of butane on the truck.i carry them under my bunk in a milkcrate.i go to the pomona ca. swap meet and get them 4/$5.00 as the truckstops charge between 4+5 doll. a can.with the exception of radar detectors and police scanners, truckstops normally don't sell stuff that will get drivers in trouble.

Have any of you ever tried a little induction stove? I have been looking at those for a while just not sure if it would be worth trying or not.

We use our portable propane grill all the time but NOT in the truck. Doesn't take long and the flame is not that high. Food is great. Heck hubby grilled pork chops, corn and heated rolls in ILL with the wind blowing 30 mph, temp in the teens and snow on the ground but had whole dinner done in 20 mins. Much better then the burger we could have gotten in the truck stop

WatsonDL1 and Lady K Thank this.

    cpttuttle,

I have been driving for 1 year. I never got around to updating my status. Anyhow I agree to your point that it is not illegal to carry butane, I do however think it would be a good idea to check with the company first to avoid any problems. Thats all I'm saying. If it really bothers you though don't check. What do I care.

I'm sure you have years and years of experience, and I don't. I am no spring chicken however and and have been around the block a few times in various careers so in other words this isn't my first rodeo.
