Depends who they're leased too most likely. Could be considered a risk of security breach, but I don't know. I do know that if you don't reveal it to them and they were to find out later it could mean instant termination of your lease agreement. Owning your own trailers AND tractors, you're likely to get 72-75% of the linehaul plus all the accessorials, so it could be very lucrative to you depending on the type of trailers you have and what you currently spend in overhead. I would be surprised if this was the case. I talked to a driver that pulls a step at LS and has two trucks pulling vans for them. Because of a change in his situation and how many more LS vans are being pulled in the past couple years he is finding it hard to keep his drivers moving. Just no one that can be at the computer to keep getting him loads.
He worked with LS but nothing was helping so we talked about bringing his two trucks to us and he would stay at LS. This was based on LS recommendation. Would also be surprised if no disclosing could be a reason for terminating a lease. You are an independent contractor and this would not be a safety issue or anything other that is regulated.volvodriver01 and Bucktrucker Thank this. -
Well i agree and if thats the case i don't want to take any of my trucks there. I won't have anyone dictating where i run my trucks .... But not going to jump to a conclusion yet will find out monday .ThanksBigBadBill Thanks this.

He should get ahold of me. The best thing to do in that situation is find an agent to get you reloads at a rate you can survive on.
-
When I was there for six years you called the agents or your co-ordinator. You worked out your own system... i usually worked with the agents then called in my load info to my travel agent.
Now they have an on line board from what I hear... Mercer is a stand-up outfit. You won't here anything bad about them from me... most guys who go there think they have died and gone to heaven when they run for them.Bucktrucker and volvodriver01 Thank this. -
If you go to Landstar just remember that you have to pay a agent fee and they already have their favorities and with the pumpkins they had a thing where you can plan your own loads but if you broke down they would charge you 500$ to have a truck recover your load they suspended the program for a min but i dont know for sure if its back up. I wouldnt got to neither but thats just me
Bucktrucker Thanks this. -
What is a Agent fee????????????
-
That is total horse%&!# is what that is. I've never heard of one of our BCO's having to PAY us to dispatch for them. Just another driver talking out of the side of their mouth.Bucktrucker Thanks this.

I am trying to figure out which is the best option for me, I'm an o/o for Conway TL and its just not working out - their not very good for o/o's so I'm looking at either Schnieder Choice program or Landstar.
I am looking for something where I can run out of SE Michigan to Texas or Calexico etc... Alot of loads coming out of Canada going both places and getting a load back from either place, couple days off and back again.
Schnieder has a terminal in Woodhaven, Mi - gives me a place to park my truck when home and looks like it has a shop. not sure how their load board would work for the runs.
Landstar seems to pay more but requires a little more work., I don't know of any Landstar terminals in the Detroit area.
Any information can and will be helpful, Thanks.

I am currently with Landstar and I did the Schneider Choice program for a few years. Getting loads out of SE Michigan are not going to be a problem but not many loads go to Calexio as u are looking for. Schneider had a lot of loads going to Laredo but with BOTH companies, u will most likely not find a load out of the border and u also will take a BIG hit on the rate if you do. Remember that u are running on percentage and will not get paid for empty miles.
Now if u wanted to stay in the Midwest both companies would work good for you, but getting a load from Detroit out to the border and back is not gonna happen the way u like it too
