El Paso trucker gets money back from DEA

I swear, some Hispanics in this country live in some sort of vacuum. Nobody I know down in Mexico carries around large amounts of cash like that. They all use banks, carry debit and credit cards, etc.

All it takes is one stick up job and that guy has lost everything. People are really stupid sometimes.

 

I agree.
That's why I strictly use old mayonaise jars buried in my backyard.
My pillows & matresses get too lumpy so I have to remove some of the cash & put it in those jars.

 

My aunt lives in a house that was built sometime in the late 1890's. When I lived with her, she had a contractor renovate the bathroom. During the demolition of the old bathroom, he told us that they often found wads of money hidden in the walls of older houses like hers which were built prior to the depression. We didn't, but that's because the bathroom had been renovated in the 1950's by a previous owner.

As for finding old stuff, my dad and I were up at our family land in Colorado a few years ago and we came across my great-grandfathers old branding iron that had his initials JSV (Jose Santiago Valdez).

I wouldnt want to judge that trucker until I know what his background is. A lot of south American countries have gone through turmoil, which has included the government seizing bank accounts and freezing funds. If that had happened to me, I am sure I would have my stash somewhere in my truck too!

 

But he wasn't in Mexico, and he lives in El Paso.

The locals here in MS get hit almost weekly for the large amounts of cash they carry. I suspect many of them are sending MORE home now, rather than having the local crack smokers steal it at gun point.

My grandfather, never used a bank. It was nothing for him to have $5000 plus in his pocket.

 

Is it stupidity to not expect our Federal Government to be the road agents doing the sticking up?
What happened to being presumed innocent until PROVEN guilty?

I hope Peter Simonson of the ACLU is correct when he said it isn't against the law in this country to carry large sums of cash.
Not that I have anything to worry about in that regard.

 

You obviously haven't spent much time in El Paso. El Paso is more Mexican than Juarez is.
