Well, I've been solo now for about 5 weeks now. Spent almost half that time sitting in various Cummins shops. 4 days at one place, then three days later in for another six. That sort of thing. All of it regen issues. Been trying to get back to a terminal for alignment job and work on fifth wheel, jaws won't latch shut the first dozen times I back under a trailer. Truck's spent last four hours not completing a regen cycle it swears it needs. Gotta haul a hot load from IA to WVC with a truck that won't regen and derates at random. And my ever-so-patient FM is going away.
I think I'm gonna turn in my keys after this load. They aren't giving me another truck, and I think I have another offer lined up much closer to home for a small fleet that runs teams which I prefer to solo I've found. I'm gonna write Central a check for school tuition and be done with it.
Anyone care to guess if they are likely to smear my dac? Not abandoning equipment our quitting while under load. They're gonna red tag my tractor anyway when I fuel up, let my FM know this already so he could arrange for a repower of my current load while the tractor is in the shop. -
Pretty sure they will try to put something Neg on your Dac
So wait a few weeks and request a copy and if they have dispute it, I know a few who have and the BS was removed!
One reason JJ and I will NEVER buyer a truck newer then 07 to expensive to have fixed and the down time for an owner Op would be a killer! -
jess leave the guy alone and let him get burned like everyone else. just kidding but i would defentally check your dac after 2 weeks. but if you do optain employment BEFORE you quit it really wont matter till you go looking again.
-
They did not really mess with my DAC. They did have 2 incident's on it. 1 was legitimate. I scratched a trailer at a shipper. No tears, no real damage. I reported it to the shipper. They checked it out, took pic's etc. And said they would not put in a claim. Other was when I hit a deer. That one they put down as no fault. And there was no damage to my truck. I just reported it because I hit something.
In either case I could have walked away without reporting to Central. But I chose to anyway to be honest.
And in both cases no real damage occurred. So it should not have been on DAC anyway.
I did however give 2 weeks notice. Then stayed on for a month after that. Since they still wanted me running and my truck was not ready yet at new job. -
Well ill keep this thread trucking along lol. Been done with training about a month now. As I mentioned my training was subpar and I actually ended up teaming with a classmate which I honestly think was a life saver. Its been like going thru training but with more pay and a lot more enjoyable. My first two checks have been about 640 and 540 net (take home). I like our dm seems like a real good guy. Only time we sit is when reciever/shippers cant take us early. So far we recieved all our reimbursements and pay is accurate. I think it would be a good idea for rookies to team for a month or two out of training. My other classmate who went solo only made about 400 his first check. I had three classmates jump and leave the truck in training. It can be tough but remember its only a month. Im sure we all felt like jumping at one point during training but im glad I stuck it thru.
Lady K Thanks this. -
you guys and gals say you take home 400- 678 take home pay, is this every week or 2 weeks and before taxs does central need hazmat or passport thanks
-
Pay is weekly on wed. I think most trucking companies pay weekly. You dont need a passport or hazmat....I would hold off on endorsements until you need them. If you get a ticket with hazmat its a much stiffer fine
-
Take home pay is after taxes so its all yours. Funny thing is the state of CA is taxing me and im never even there anymore but im not going to turn this political
-
I thought everyone was scared away from posting because of the company Stooge that was on here for a while
Happy to see your going to keep the thread going!
