    I work as an O/O for UACL.
    What do you really want to know ? They pay faster then any one I know of.
    Depends on where you live as to what you will get for freight.
    Yes, they all have their favorites.
    I run long haul. Mostly north west.

    Yes they will use Brokers for back hauls . But you own the truck and can just say NO. You are Ok to find your own loads. Just get them cleared and all is good.

    They can be fussy as to who they hire. Depends on where you live.

    Anyone have any good up to date info on Universal? I have been thinking about leasing to them and would appreciate some good info.

    They are under Universal truckload services Inc. Mason Diion Great American Lines Pacer Economy Transport and a host of others in the USA and Canada. As far as I know if you lease to one you can haul all the other companies frieght. Matty Maroun the owner of the ambassador bridge owns the whole shabang. I think he is in jail over the bridge and the state of michigan(nothing to do with the trucking companies)at this time for ignoring a judges order several times.Sounds like he has character to me.

    Well thanks for the info. I am hoping to get some info on how they are to work with and rates and amount of freight they have. Just trying to see how much of what the recruiter says is true. So far he seems real honest and upfront but can never be to careful. It will be my first time leasing with anyone since I have had my own authority since 08. Just dont want to make a giant mistake.

    It has been my experience over the last 35 years that all carriers hauling the same stuff all have about the same rate give or take a few cents. Why would a shipper pay one guy 4 dollars to move a load when 25 other carriers would do it for 2 dollars. See what I mean You can do alright at just about any outfitit just that some are better than others. Personally I like Mercer myself others hate them.I did really well with Mercer others claimed they almost went broke was it the carrier or the contractor?

    1958 pete I got your pm and replied but it when out into the stratosphere somewhere my mistake.I think the boy will do just fine as long as the experts and the professional drivers leave him alone. If he start listening tothose guys lord only knows what will happen. We will wait and see, where he is now they have about 15 drivers and was told by management he was in the top 4 as to knowing what to do and how to limp in if something goes wrong anyway good luck to you

    You could just call one of the agents and ask them what they get on certain moves Rate plus fuel and so on that is what we did.We will be working out of Baltimore which has some poor rates but where we live you have to haul into and out of Baltimore to make it work,and we will be hauling coils which most guys are afraid of anyway. Most people only haul steel when nothing else is available we make our living at itRemember the old C&H out of Dallas they were called cold and hungry . You can call what we will be doing cheap and heavy come on
