This thread is a prime example of why old hands want nothing to do with today's rookies.

A post like this just makes me think here we go again !!! ANOTHER young hot shot going to tell me how to do it right !!

All I see by your comment is your lack of knowledge and life experience .

I am not trying to be mean spirited here but do you really know what real truck driving is like ?

Call me in 20 or 30 years if you are still trucking and let me know how it is working out for you .

Now that I have sounded like the fat ask grouch that I am rapidly becoming I will go eat my oat meal and holler at the kids walking on my grass !!! LOL

Hell I lost weight since I became a trucker lol. I see those fat slobs sitting at buffets eating greasy chicken and pizza until they cannot move anymore.

Yes, getting fat is definitely a choice. I hear drivers all the time say trucking made them fat. No, it didn't, you made you fat. Personal responsibility, folks. Everyone chooses what they do with their spare time (and if you are on this forum, you have spare time) and everyone chooses what they put into their mouth. Period. I've met too many drivers who stay thin and fit, not to mention that I've maintained my own fitness level, for me to ever believe trucking makes a person fat.

There is NO reason at all you cant take 30to45min out of your day to walk or run a few miles. few pushups,situps,ect..ect..

Body in motion stays in motion..
    Body staying still kills you..

It all depends on the weather for me regardless of what job I'm doing.
If it's 130 degrees outside, I'll be riding my bicycle around like a mad-dog.
Rolling to the gym, hitting some unknown trail, the high heat keeps me going!!

However, if I'm stuck in the Pacific Northwest during the winter, I'm usually bundled up in the sleeper, or slipping and sliding over inches thick ice on said bicycle.

What I do is park as far from the main building as I feel safe to do so. This way I have to walk 5 to 10 minutes each way. I've seen drivers doing laps(some running and others walking) around the T/S parking lot.

I have actually lost about 25 pounds since I became a trucker. Believe me it is hard as anything. I am a big guy and love to eat.

Some things I do to fight the eating bug

Floss my teeth (those little plastic flossers)
    Eat an apple
    chew gum

they help me. I also try to park towards the back of the lot and walk when I come to the truck stops. Since I have hit middle age, I have to be more careful with my health So far it is working

That's just it..its the forcing yourself to get a bit of exercise...I drove for 6 years..had to quit for 6 years..never gained a pound while driving..didn't lose any weight but didn't gain..since being off the road I've gained 15 lbs..LOL

I wouldn't say you should "force" yourself to get exercise. If you have to force yourself to do something, you probably won't stick with it very long. Rather, find something you enjoy doing.

I probably worded that badly..Meant that you can easily put yourself into a position to get some exercise.like the back of the lot on chickenhauler's row...

You know chickenhauler's row don't ya..10 or 12 pete's and kw's all lined up..idling headlights off with the chicken lights on...lot lizards hoppin from truck to truck..They was always the first ones parked and the last ones out cuz they had them triple digit trucks and could stick around like that..(joke)
