What's the difference between regular straps (4" or 2") and 'car straps'?
And the bungies you're talking about... are they just the regular rubber ones that you can pick up just about anywhere?

I think "Me Only" answered the question perfectly. As you can see from his list, he is very well prepared and that is exactly what you should be doing.

Load securment devices are like guns. I'd rather have too many with me than not enough.

Sorry I hadn't responded.. Been busy trying to finish up the flatbed on my truck.

So, I think I am going to go with this...

    3 - 3/8" x 20'
    3 - 3/8" x 25'
    3 - 5/16" x 20'
    3 - 5/16" x 25'
    6-8 Chain Binders
    3 - 2" x 27' Ratchet Straps w/Flat Hooks
    3 - 2" x 27' Ratchet Straps w/Wire Hooks
    3 - 2" x 30' Ratchet Straps w/Flat Hooks
    3 - 2" x 30' Ratchet Straps w/Wire Hooks
    4 - 4" x 30' Ratchet Straps w/Flat Hooks
    50 - 21" Bungees

Unsure on tarps.. Was thinking 1 Steel, 1 Lumber

As for chain binders, I am going with the ratcheting binders. Are the cheap $30 binders just as good as the expensive $130 binders? I read somewhere that guys with the cheap ones are throwing them out and replacing them pretty often. And the expensive ones last forever.. Any truth to this?

And you guys think I'm wasting my time having a wide range of chain and straps?

Buy the made in America binders and chains. The Chinese binders are much cheaper but you get what you pay for.
