I from time to time are I'm so thankful for a 5 hour power shot to wake up on, but most of the time I just sip a RockStar over a couple hours or so. Recently I changed my ration of coffee to include a 5 Hr shot and a Rock Star to sip on throughout my trip during mid mourning and evening runs, I used to carry at least a thermos full and have to refill it at some point during my daily grind but I'm try different things. Whats yours?

Drugs, lots and lots of drugs. Its the only way I can handle all the hrs I work using two log books. Just kidding
Ok first off you need the temp right in the cab. if its too warm and no fresh air, it can make ya drowsy.
second. I drink lots of nice cold water, it will perk you right up and wont make ya fat or diabetic.
Third. Get out of the cab at least every two hrs and get the blood flowing.
Fourth. Quit screwing around and get plenty of rest on your off time.
Fifth. Stay away from eating heavy meals or lots of sugary snacks.Flatdecker, popmartian, Gears and 4 others Thank this. -
good sleep is the key, when I can't get that, Coffee, 5 hr energy and stopping every 2 hours and walking around the truck several times.
The wife and I run team and she drives during the day. Since it is hard to sleep bouncing down the road we work noon to midnight and midnight to noon shifts to break up the night driving.

drive no more hrs then i need to .get a good nights sleep in motels every night .dont need all those stimulants to keep me awake .my body tells me when to sleep .
Mommas_money_maker and Motownfire Thank this. -
As for me? I drink water, and eat light snacks, low in salt, low in sugar. NO BIG meals, that can make me drowsy. When I get home, I get a good several hours of sleep.
Sleep is the only thing that can refresh the human body. Sleep is needed every day, it IS NOT something we can catch up on some other day.
If you find that YOU NEED such energy drinks?? You may have an underlined problem like sleep apnea. This is something you should get checked out, before any company you work for, MAKES YOU check it out, when you least can afford to do so.
I think you are sleep deprived.KansasWhirl and Mommas_money_maker Thank this. -
I can drink 2 bottles of 5 hour power. And go to bed....for the night.
Yet, people swear by it.Mommas_money_maker and Hitman Thank this. -
Take too much of that 5 HOUR ENERGY CRAP and see what happens , like OVERDOSING on Vitamin B6 Shakes , Numbness .
Mommas_money_maker Thanks this. -
Quality sleep, a fairly regular schedule, and a reasonable, rounded diet consisting of 5-6 LIGHT meals of the proper foods will keep your energy level up better than anything. BTW, a light meal IS NOT a kids burger and small fries. Find the right ratio of calories derived from protein, carbohydrates, and fat that works for you and your needs, and try to stick close to that, and keep your calories to a reasonable level and you will see an immediate boost in your energy level during your work day. 40/40/20 is a good starting point. Its ok to have 1 or 2 days week where you can forget about your calorie limits if you need to.
For some the bigger problem is boredom, and not so much fatigue.Last edited: Mar 12, 2012
