LMAO..now thats funny..
seriously..even as a felon myself I would certainly pause to hire someone that attempted to burn anything up..its not because of the felony but the pure investment of dollars in the equipment..
The word Arson is what does it..thanks to a lot of tv shows and movies the stereotype is a mentally unstable firebug
If instead of arson it said attempted murder you would probably get hired faster..seriously..
I hate to say that but its true..Any employee is viewed not only on qualifications but potential risk to the company and its equipment..if the chance for profit outweighs the risk then the person gets hired..
They view anyone convicted of arson as high risk because of that stereotype..
Attempted murder in that situation even I can understand that having been in put in that situation myself by my ex wife..It took all the self control I had not to get my gun out and blow her brains all over the wall..and his. that didn't stop me from dragging both of em out of the house butt ### nekkid into the street and locking the door though
Bottom line...the arson charge is going to cause problems and how you word the explanation. ..
"it was a spur of the moment decision made in anger due o a very personal position that my wife/gf put me in at that moment...I regret doing it and have, since, never allowed myself to be put in that position again....
Sounds a lot better than "I found my girlfriend cheating on me and lit her bed on fire"....not guaranteeing that it will help but it does sound better to a potential employer..and if you can show that you went to anger management counseling and therapy of some kind as a result may go a bit further.
They don't want someone out on the road in 80000 lbs with a proven violent temper. while court ordered anger management etc is good for you, it also tells a potential employer that you did not take the initiative to seek it yourself. That's any employer btw..not just trucking industry.
So..with all that said will you get hired by an OTR company..time will tell..BUT once you do..stick there for a loong time..its going to be harder to get your foot in the door than it would a local or oil field company..if you go local or oilfield..you can then prove to all future employers you aren't a risk.

Well, considering that prayerful Christians have been no better off than those who aren't Christian, I would assume it would be much more constructive of him to spend that potential prayer time with resume making and job searching.Jynxx Thanks this.
