I live in a residential neighborhood and at 10 last night some truck decided to drive down my street and use his jake break to stop. Don't people have common sense anymore. I never would have used the Jake brake at that hr, especially in a residential neighborhood.

and people wonder why the no jake brake signs are everywhere. it was probably an unmuffled truck that rattled half a city block.
-

Just not when we're trying to sleep lol

He/she may have just not been thinking or maybe just being a prick. There's no shortage of inconsiderate people out there. I live on a secondary highway not far (1 mile) from an intersection and there is ALOT of truck traffic on this road so we hear jakes alot. It doesn't bother me and I expect it because " I live on a secondary highway not far (1 mile) from an intersection". People that live in a residential area should not have to listen to that.

Another driver just trying to sound "Cool". This one should just hang a sign on his trailer....."look at me, I'm cool, or at least I think I am"
-
You could be right. Some people think stupid is smart.
-
if it was a rural area did you think about the possibility of a deer or other animal on the road that the driver was trying to avoid/scare off the road?
There are a lot of things that can explain it other than "sounding cool" or "he was just an idiot"

Right you are, could be other possibilities, but I rather doubt it.

Since we weren't there and he probably didn't get out bed to look..we won't ever know will we?

I've always known and realized WE truck drivers project an image to the citizen 4 wheelers and residents. Me, personally, I prefer to project a GOOD image to the motoring public. You know, clean truck/safe courteous driving/clean clothes/being respectful of neighborhoods I drive thru, things like that. Just letting a driver come out of a driveway goes a long way.
LaBubba and Motownfire Thank this.
