Found this that may help and its cheap. What this does is allows you to use different resistances settings to check different values.
You could run a wires to this and adjust it until you find the right resistance that will make the CEL go out. Then buy the right resistor and hook it up permanately.
Just a thought...thought it might be handy so you don't have to buy so many to try to find the right range.

Thank you. I wonder if that's worth a try. I unplugged my EGR on my 05 ISX-475 today and immediately noticed an improvement in the way the motor sounds, runs, and the fuel economy improved a full point!! So now I need to silence that CEL at the EGR plug and will be a happy camper.

Ordered it from Amazon today, should be here on Friday. If successful I'll fabricate a waterproof dongle to plug in. I'll let you know in a few days if it worked. -
I welded my egr valve('06 565) shut about a year ago. It was the best thing i could have done. If you would compare your oil samples you'll know why. The soot levels drop significantly. In addition to welding the valve. I took the side cover off and there are two gears that work it. I pryed the smaller one out. It is the one for the electric motor. So put it back together plug it in. The ecm still thinks it opening and closing. This will work until the electric motor burns out.

Good deal...anxious to hear back. Would also like to know what you think of the meter. May get one myself. That would come in really handy when diagnosing sensors and harnesses.

Well I got the "resistor substitute box" today and it turns out it's a kit, haha. As in, nothing assembled, just PCB, a bag of parts, a dozen or so resistors, loose knobs. I don't mind assembling it, but that wasn't part of the plan. I might as well just go try each resistor out as a jumper instead of building this dadgum mini-heathkit.

I'll try these resistors out tomorrow and see if I get any result. -
Sorry, guess thats why it was so cheap...I kind of wondered if it was a to good to be real deal. Thought it might be worth a try. Let us know how it turns out! You may stumble on the key to the ISX light!

It's not a difficult assembly, so I'll assemble it and still try out the combinations. If it works, I'll share the solution here. If the ECM samples work on a curve the resistor trick may not work.
No apology necessary. I should have read the fine print. "Kit" means just that.

This is exactly what I would do. It's free and solves the issue perfectly. Good idea!
