2007 KW with 475 Cat Acert mxs twin turbo. If I pinch off the waste gate line will this hurt anything? I did it for a few days and it seemed to develop more power and maybe .2 better fuel mileage. Then one of the boots blew off and I cut my tie strap pinching it off and fixed the boot. Haven't tried it again. Probably had an increase in boost of about 5psi. Pull a b-train alot so I am always looking for more power and better mpg. I sure miss my old 550 in my 2000 K-wopper.

Why don't you just adjust/replace the wastegate...?

Pinching Accert is a bad idea. Already running high boost with the Accert, they'll overboost if not careful.

The turbos are also not designed for that rpm...you'll burn them up quicker pinching the line off.

Our previous mech did this to ours and we have since undone all of them. Drivers did not notice a difference in power with them undone. Maybe a hair more lag....but no drop in power.

I asked this question a while back and got some good advice from Mr. Haney and company.

What boost are you at with the wastegate hooked up? You may be below specs actually...check that first. Like barroll said check your wastegate. They are normally not adjustable....I found one out of all ours that was. The end will have a crimp in it so you can't adjust it. You can add a washer between the mount and vacuum solenoid to tighten it up so it won't release psi quite as quick...but it will still allow it to function properly.

Others will chime in soon I'm sure.

Yea, don't do that. Like previous post said turbo speed is critical in longevity and dependability of turbo. Adding boost doesn't always mean more power either. If your not adding fuel to all that air your actually running be running the engine lean.

Or better yet, get rid of the dual turbos and waste gate thing and go with a large single turbo. I have seen this done with excellent results. Some experience a good jump in fuel economy without sacrificing power.

It's a lot cheaper and better to just go with the PDI tune and keep the twins. You wont lack for power and it'll get decent mileage. Talk to Mr Haney get it tuned it'll pay for itself in just few months. Oh and don't pinch off the waste gate line.

Thanks for the responses everyone. I want to do some stuff with this motor like a tune just gotta save a few bucks up first. Went to Radio Shack and got a 150 ohm resistor and did the fuel temp mod 4 days ago. Just got back from running down to Knoxville Tn. and back. I maybe got .1mpg increase but I think I need more tanks to check it better. Seemed to have more power though. Seemed to pull the hills better.

Going to get some resistors this week to do on our fleet. I hope to see some better numbers than what we have been getting. Most are in the low 5's. Would like to get them all into the mid to upper 5's. That is my goal by summer. We even have a few in the mid to low 4's. :biggrin_25513:

    Scrapper,
I think it was $1.19 for 5, 150 ohm, 1/2 watt resistors at the Radio Shack near me.
