also in imoo going with bigger company's ssem to ding harder than the smaller 5 to 50 truck companies. they are more likely to give you a chance sense its been a while since your last "run in".
Good luck in all you do and hope you get the job..

I just dont get these application and requirements because the say two different things like no dui, dwi in five years no felony in 7 yrs and I fit that so do I tell them that I do have felony or only tell them what they are asking for..?? Their questions are also double standards. I feel if they ask for only seven yrs I will tell them up to seven yrs but then they ask the EVER question so do they want my life story or seven years. I am confused

it all depends on insurance, contracts etc..if a company is puling fed gov't loads..the background check can go back as far as talking to the doctor that pulled you from your momma's belly..

    Just keep trying..

I've ran into my previous driving experience being a problem...I've gotten past it..it can be done

Bud doesn't do background checks on drivers...they leave it up to your company..just make sure the seals remain intact.

Have felony dui which was 7 1/2 yrs ago and I have about 5 certificates of rehabilitation and also have been cleared by fed government to haul hazardous materials. Yet I am a liability ? 7 1/2 years and counting without a single thing. I just don't get it. All my crap is alcohol related yet I remain sober so I don't get it.

DUI's are very serious for a commercial driver..

Be that as it may..most companies go back ten years on criminal history and employment. So..inside of that agic ten year window..it can still be viewed as a liability...Its up to the company..

Are there companies that will hire you? yes
Are there companies that won't? yes

That may seem unfair and in some ways it is..its all about acceptable levels of risk for the company. No matter what..in two and a half years..you won't have to worry about it as long as you stay squeaky clean.

One DUI can be forgiven..everybody makes an error in judgement..any more than that constitutes a habitual pattern..the fact that you have 5 rehab certificates supports that it was a habit and not a one time deal. That ups the risk in the company's eyes.

We all reap what we sow..what matters is how much water we give what we sow..you've given seven and a half years of water (time) to bring about a better future..right now it sucks..yeah..

Driving while under the influence is like a homeowner inviting an arsonist into his house..you are applying for a driving career and your history shows that you had a habitual error in judgement..but you have tried to mend your ways..so its not a No..its a wait and see from some companies..others will mitigate the risk and say seven and a half years clean shows enough of a commitment to the straight and narrow..

You will find a driving job..it just may not be the one you want right away..

1 year driving anything commercial with a clean record would be the same as those two and a half years clean and driving your 4 wheeler.

It may not be your dream job you get..probably won't be..but as long as its verifiable and you don't job hop in the first year you won't have any issues.

All companies view that first year of driving as a testing phase for any driver..clean record or not..In one year the ones that can't cut it quit or are fired..the ones that remain are the ones they want..no matter what.

1 year with a company..any company..even if that company only has two trucks..as long as its verifiable driving experience and you stick out that year...you are good..stick it out for longer..the better you look.

My rehabs where all in two years preceding crime and my only dui's where in a eight month period. Was going through a divorce. It doesn't excuse what I did. I am keeping my fingers crossed and I hope I can prove it to someone that people do change and show that with dedication. But talking to recruiters on the phone and trying to explain it to them is a huge waste of time they just cut u off and hang up.
