I also changed the water pump when I did mine as you need to remove half that stuff to change the waterpump in the future. the big oil cooler is a pain to reinstall

You might be in for more than you know. I broke six studs on my 3406C. Plus the one that caused the leak to begin with.
Get some stud puller rods. I got Harris Missile Weld from my local Airgas. Don't forget a welding blanket to keep molten steel off the rest of the truck. It takes a long time to build the weld up enough to weld a nut on.
Weld a half second, peen, cool, repeat...

All the ones I changed I was able to drill and use a easyout on. But they were sheared of and the truck was not that old.

There are a couple of coolant hoses back in there, with everything apart, now is the time to change them!

I was very lucky on mine with the syuds as all 12 we no sweat to remove 9 came out with the nut. it was a big day it took me 10 hrs including changing the water pump
