Schneider will edge out LS on the van side. Seems LS has allowed their brokers to compete with each other driving rates down. Not the case at Schneider.

But the money is on flats at LS or Mercer. But if you want to stay with vans the the pumpkin is the way to go.

I've found this is only the case with agents who deal with freight forwarders and customs houses, or with customer whom inexperienced agents don't provide quality service to. You do have to watch your back at times and keep tabs on your customers.

ok thanks for the answers, as of now I'm leaning more toward Schneider right now, there doesn't seem to be enough support locally (SE Michigan). Schneider will probably be a little less money than Landstar but it looks like a better system.

I am curious about one thing though. - what happens when you book a load and your running and encounter bad weather where you have to shut down - shutting down would make the load deliver late. what does both companies do in that instance?.

Schneider will work with you 100% and they always want you to be safe (so does Landstar but over here you are dealing with agents and not a central dispatch)

And to be honest, if you have never booked loads before or dispatched yourself, I would highly suggest Schneider to start off with. Their system is very simple and easy to use. Once you figure out all the lanes they run and where the better paying freight is with them, you will do fine. Just give it a few months because it will take some time and you WILL get very frustrated. But after a while, you will be able to do it all with ease.

Only downside I had with Schneider is that they primarily deal with major corporations and their loads cancel often. I would have an entire week planned out in advance and then 1 load would cancel and you then have to spend the next day looking for a completely different plan. But it's all part of the game.

Don't plan on Woodhaven being there heard they were closing & selling this location in near future.
