I never thought about this before, but I am starting to second guess applying to companies which have orientations half way across the country simply over the great risks of being sent home for any unspecified reasons these companies appear to create. What do you guys feel about this matter?

Yeah. I started orientation today with boyd bros in Birmingham. I had a 21 hour bus ride. Very long weekend.

But yeah one guy was sent home because of a bad knee..... I'm hoping when I go back tomorrow, nothing came up today that would get me sent home.

I was told everything was clear before I left my house but then I got sent home because my former employer couldn't be bothered to send in a form the truck company needed. I had to go to my former company, get a copy of the form, and fax it to the truck company.

The truck company paid for the bus ticket there and back but I was only a few hours away. It probably would have been a different story if the truck company had to spend more money to get me home. As it was I lost a week's pay and my insurance will start a month later.

I have declined orientations because of the distance involved. If I can't drive there myself, in a few hours (no more than 8-12). I'm not interested.
