    Hi all,

I am considering at the moment getting my HR license and looking at entering the trucking industry. Is there any advice you would give someone like me thinking of a career as a truck Driver?

    I'm 29 and have a young family.

    Thanks
    Nathan

Well, with a young family I guess interstate isn't going to be your cup of tea Nathan..unless thats what you wanted. HR is a good start, spend 12 months on it and then you can upgrade to HC, or 2 years and go onto MC Licence (its alot easier going HR to MC - you dont stuff up at reversing as its the same as a rigid :p)

    Go see DECA at http://www.deca.com.au/

They do all the training and licence testing onsite (3 day course). I'm not sure how much they charge these days but an easy $1000+ would be a ballpark figure.

And unless you had work lined up, hook up through an agency....or someplace like this for job postings.

DECA used to have a recruitment division where you could also get fulltime work as well (I dont know if they still do, I did it with them back in 2007)

    Good luck with it Nathan
