This is your second post/thread asking about alcohol. Maybe its time to be honest with yourself and consider a different career. You obviously have an alcohol problem, you will get caught. And, I sure as hell dont want you on the same roads as my family member in control of a 80K vehicle drunk.

I drank many a beer while on the road over the years. In my truck, (after shutting down for the night), in a bar, in a motel, in a dinner house with a meal, in the "back row" with other drivers sitting for the weekend. It's NOT illegal to drink when OFF DUTY. It is illegal to drink then drive. A MATURE adult can handle it. An IMMATURE kid can't. So, which are you ?

Now, most truck companies have rules about alcohol. But, regardless, YOU, the person drinking, should know YOU better than anyone else. So, since YOU know YOU, can YOU handle a beer or two or more while OFF duty ? Or, do YOU get out of control when you drink ? Then,YOU shouldn't be drinking while on the road, save it for sometime and have Mama babysit you.

That's what they mean... if you get popped for positive alcohol on a random, they're telling you you're gone. Under CSA, even one driver testing positive can have serious consequences for the carrier, and EVERY driver will pay for it with an increased PrePass red light inspection rate at the coop.

On another thread... some AZZhat posting here decided that he'd do the world a favor by calling the local cops out on a driver who had obviously had a few, and who'd misplaced his keys. This AZZhat had NO CLUE whether the the tipsy driver was on a 34, going to sleep it off - or hit the road. So... that's a warning for those who have a couple at night - your neighbor may be one of those lily-white, going-to-report-you-and-save-us-all types.

I can tell you for fact that here in MN if you drink and then crawl in the cab to sleep you will get a DUI. (Obviously only if caught) I worked as a mechanic at the TA in Rogers, MN. Drivers would walk across the overpass to the Municipal Liquor store (on and off sale) have a few walk back to their truck all while State Patrol was watching. DUI's for all that drank and open containers for those that had brought back booze. I seen this dozens and dozens of times.

I know when we were at Fed Ex CC, you couldnt even drink when you were OFF duty (but still on the road laid over). how they looked at it, was they could call at any time and expect you to go, so they didnt want you drinkin, also they didnt want that image associated with the company. we dont drink much anymore, but when we used to, we kept it STRICTLY to time off AT HOME!!!

Can anyone remember remember picking up beer at Anheuser Busch in St Louis and being served a beer while your trailer was being loaded? It was before my time- and I trust the old timers who told those stories.
