As long as I hit their fuel stops, I have never had a problem with taking whatever route I wanted. There are time when the route OptiStop gives me that is longer and takes longer than the route I want to take. I just call my FM and explain to him that I have a better way and I have never had him say that I had to take the route the computer sent me. He just reroutes me the way I want to go and I get a fuel stop along that route. As long as it makes sense money and time wise, Roehl has let me do it my way. As for toll roads through Chicago, I just go the most direct way to where I'm going. I don't go on the "SkyWay" because that doesn't go anywhere I need to go any faster than the other roads. I have never had anyone say anything to me about toll roads. If anyone ever does say something to me about it, I'll just apologize and explain that I didn't notice the routing. But since 2006, I have never had anyone say anything to me about taking toll roads.

I never had anyone say anything until pretty recently, I went 294 instead of 94 a little later in the day.

I usually get routed down 294, I go 94 probably one out of 8 trips thru Chitown.

The difference in routing on 294 and 94 usually depends on the customer. Some contracts have the tolls built into the negotiated rate. Others have such a tight profit margin, the company can't afford the extra expense.

Fuel costs really are getting crazy. Maybe there will be less cars on the road this summer. :biggrin_25525: More room for us!

    Welcome to the team Critter!!

As for me, its always 294,290, 90 when heading to WI or MN, but when north of Chitown I always get that dreaded 94 only. I once, to prove a point, did 41 to 94 so it was truly NO TOLLS, but that takes even longer because of all the lights. Not as much traffic, but many lights.

So, come out of the house Tuesday morning. Head to Owens Corning, get there in time, check-in, pull up to wait. Fork lift driver comes up, hey your load is in Mounds View. :biggrin_25513: Customer Service sent me right load, but wrong address. Come on Man!!! :biggrin_25510:

Get up to Mounds View, load up and head out to Milwaukee. Know where I am going and have 10 hours to make a 6.5hr trip, so I take my sweet time. I get there about 6 PM and sit back and take it easy. I do some tarp maint and post trip... Oh, post trip! I find a broken cable to my coolant sensor. No warning lights or anything, but sensor is clear as day broken.

Unload in the AM, get message to head to Neenah. 5 mins down the road get a phone call. Stop when you can and get directions to place to drop your trailer and then continue on to Neenah. Now, that is how a phone call should work! Hey heads up there is a change, stop and check it out, BYE. I have Blue tooth in the truck so I'm not driving down the road with a phone to my ear and the conversation is quick enough for me to find a place to pull over and then get the full details via QC.

Anyway, drop trailer at the Greatwide yard in Saukville. Strange? But there were two other flats there so I guess not that strange.

Get up to Neenah, wash the truck (hasn't been washed in over a month) and guess what, LOW COOLANT warning. Got some water on the lines and it finally gives me the warning. Oh well, they can't see my truck until 3 PM, and I know it needs a dealer so I will be here tonight.

Anyone in the area look me up, have my computer and Cubs hat on in the drivers lounge. After my shower! :biggrin_25522:
