Detroit is owned by a truck maker. And has started
making axles. Transmissions are on the way. -
I seen a few new vocationals a few weeks ago sitting out for sale.
IH always made a good truck if you spec it right. Last one I drove was a '78 Paystar. Tough truck! I'd buy one if I needed a brand new truck.
So there's
Mack
Volvo
Mercedes
Paccar
Caterpillar
for same truck/engine combojardel Thanks this. -
After 2003 when Ford stopped putting the 7.3 Powerstroke diesels engine, in lieu of the 6.0. You could still buy a brand new Superduty with a 7.3 in Australia. I wonder if they are still producing them?

Really wish I could have found some configurations/specs on the CAT trucks. -
I work at CAT. On the machine side. We do have this one at work right now. This is a CT660.
CAT specs the engine. This one has a CT13 Twin Turbo in it. Allison Trans.Last edited: Mar 21, 2012

Oh god, c13 with dpf, thats what drove them out of the
Truck engine market! Did they not learn from 08? -
CT13.
That is why they dont make the engine. Its an international engine specd out for CAT. Its yellow and has CAT decals. CAT is not in the truck engine market right now. This is a Tier 4 engine which is their newest emissions system. Who knows what will happen though. The thing is, trucks and machines are pretty much on the same EPA regulations now. Its sort of ridiculous. However, with the new Tier 4 it may be the boost CAT needs to get back into the market. We'll see what happens. -
