1. Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

I just finished driving school about a week ago and have my CDL with all endorsements and looking to get into the oilfields. I have been looking since Nov but finally gave into needing a CDL after a couple of job fairs.

Does anyone know of any places hiring in Colorado? I have been looking at ND and TX but with the housing situation in ND, I really don't think its realistic. I know the housing is getting tight in TX as well.

Any info about companies, job fairs, payscales etc would be greatly appreciated!:biggrin_25520:

Housing isn't getting tight in TX, not that I know of.

There are lot of oilfield companies hiring for drivers but usually most of them require to have at least 2 year old driver's license. But don't make that dissapoint you. I am just telling you how it is. A lot of times you actually have to go the companies offices.

Research on the companies you might be interwested in working for.

    1.Call them
    2. E-mail them
    3. Go to there office

I would suggest asking an already working driver in the oil fields if you are able to shadow and see if that may help you getting hired with a company that required mininum 2 years.

Especially in the oil field, a lot of companies are skeptical about putting a newbie out of school behind the wheel on some real expensive equipment. And trucking in the oil fields is just a whole lot different then general trucking (dry van, flatbed, etc.)

Just to let you know how it is. Hope you find a job soon!

Housing is pretty tight in Odessa/Midland. You can find a place, but you'll probably wait 1-2 months before you can move in. We found an apartment in Midland but had to live in Motel 6 for four weeks before we could move in.

I don't know about other areas.
