I agree with red on engine choice and value. Won't get into EGR debate here.
A 670 and Century are going to be roughly same ride and not familiar enough to know if one would do better than the other. Would say with same specs you should be able to get the same MPG.
Seems like you may run California. How long will you be able to run this under CARB?

I've got a 02 Freightliner century with the 12.7 Detroit with 3:90 rears and at 65 to 68 mph I still average 6.5 to almost 7.0 mpg. Giving descent road conditions. I wish I had 3:70 rears like that but you will turn a profit. I average 1.65 and I can afford to left lane every once in awhile and it not hurt my profits.

Yea it's a pre egr. I bought this truck as is no warranty or nothing and to be honest I've never liked Detroit. Always been a die hard red head cummins man myself. But I have no oil leaks an it uses no oil between the 12,000 mile services. Honestly best truck I've ever bought. Didn't like the 3:90 ratio. But it'll pull the hills an walk off an leave the large cars an still get better fuel mileage.

Forget buying from Arrow... every truck is overpriced. The guy who owns the outfit I run for bought a couple '07 Columbia's last year for $23,000.... and an '05 Farmall a few months ago for $24,000.
The salesman get's a healthy commission from selling NTP.... never buy it. Do a dyno test and THAT will tell you what you need to know about the engine.
Unless Kevin Rutherford is making your payments take what he sez with skepticism...
The 14L Detroit was a problematic engine... and not very good on fuel economy.
Buying a truck based on one thing such as a "possible" increase in fuel economy may leave you very disappointed.US MARINE Thanks this. -
I've went against the NTP all together ...
