I'm not sure I understand. I was planning on paying out of pocket for my CDL from a local school, and then signing on with a large carrier for OTR training. I was under the impression that I would actually be paid for the OTR training.
OTR may be for me, questions and concerns.

If that's the case, you wont have to worry about being in a contract to anyone. I'd make sure the school is on companies' "approved school" list. Opens many more doors for ya...

I just got hired by a regional carrier after being unemployed the past 2 years. You don't have to settle for the mega-carriers. Just have to do a little more legwork than just filling out online apps.

Thanks. I would actually prefer long distance OTR, staying out for 2-4 weeks at a time. I figured the large carriers would be the best match for what I want. If that's not the case, I'll expand my search.
