Best case you come to aburt stop. In middle about 5 k
Worth of damage. To getting stuck on r/r tracks, truck train mishap!
Have seen drivers kiss the windshield! Few extra sec work,
Just roll them all the way. -
It must be true.. I read it on the internet.
Mr Ed Thanks this. -
myself i had the other problem, i crank up em fine, but i hit a bump and down they come fast too, so after the last crank up after bunch of purty sparks at night , i chained it up, something was broke in gear box, good thing i was on a level flat hyway
-
yes, you crank them all the way up unless just moving across a level lot or something. Now, the trickier question !
Where do you put the landing gear when dropping ? -
I was just asking. I do crank them all the way up. Well about 95%. That last bit, where there are no wear marks. That is where you can get into rusty, unlubed gears...
I crank them to the ground and do one more. I do not like to have the front portion of 45K doing any sort of free fall drop!!!!!!
And I pull out slow, in case the landing gear fails, the trailer is still over the frame rails of the tractor. I might be stuck there till a wrecker arrives, but the product will be saved! So will my job!

On firm ground.
When we pre-load our tankers we gotta put the feet down on a 4' concrete pad. Or else, ya know, it'll be who knows how far into the mud/dirt/ground when you show up tomorrow, or after a weekend of heavy rain which we are getting. -
If delivering on time means you don't even have time to crank the landing gear all the way up, you're schedule is way too tight.
Pmracing Thanks this. -
Dropping a loaded, all the way down on a firm surface. Empty, about 1/4 in off the ground and drop the bags.
-
Why is that?
