Panhandlers at Truck Stops

Hence why I would never give one money. 99% of them are panhandling to either support a drug habit or they are just flat out too lazy to get a job.

 

Yup, 99.9% of the time you're helping pay for a bag of heroin, or pint of liquor...

 

I'm usually pretty quick to give $10 or $20 to someone asking. Firstly, I can afford it, I usually don't get hit up more than a couple times a week. Secondly, I figure if they're a crackhead they're probably gonna get money for that crack one way or another, even if it means stealing. Frankly, I'd rather give them the $20 than have them bust into somebody's truck and take their radio. Lastly, I think some of them are legit and I don't mind getting ripped off by a few crackheads to make sure the money is getting to the ones who need it.

But, like I said, I can afford it. I'm blessed to have a good job, be able to pay my bills and have a little left over. I'm sure all you guys got it so rough you're probably living in terrible homes, driving 20 year old cars, and eating porridge without a dime to spare. I don't blame you for holding onto that hard earned money.

 

yah, a little. I know some guys need every dollar they got, but I think it's okay to give people some money. I've been on tough times before myself though and got some friends who got all messed up on drugs too, so maybe I identify with those folks more than most.

I have thought before that if a guy comes up that looks in decent health I could hand him some windshield cleaner and paper towels and tell him to clean my windows for it. But then you gotta worry if they're gonna fall off your truck or something. I mean I understand the point about dependency and all that too.

 

Are they are counted in Obama's job recovery?
