How long ago have you changed it? What engine?
-
are you sure the rubber gasket was in place when the new filter was installed ? Its normal for the fuel level to be very near bottom of glass when filter is first replaced but usually can see fuel at least three quarter inch or so up new element, then as filter ages and filter media clogs, the fuel level rises in the filter and passes through the fresh media.

Its almost 2 months now, yes there was a gasket. Still totally empty.
volvo d12c 465.
This is the first time ever staying empty. -
I would check the "check valve assembly" on the inlet hose side. Also check the bottom grommet and top spring if not broken. Download this PDF lots of info on how to check things around water separator. http://www.davco.com/pdf/tech/1271.pdfFrank5229 Thanks this.

Nice ride.... -
OK I installed new filter, checked grommet looks ok.
Also cleaned lines and bought new check valve kit.
Still the glass window gets totally empty.
Truck runs fine too.
what could be the reason for emptying out.. -
Is the filter fully seated and installed properly? if not it will just bypass the filter causing it to empty and will not prime.

Thanks buddy, I forgot to to tighten the bottom ring with the tool.
It was sucking air from there. Runs awesome now.
Davco documentation was very good!!!
Thanks everyone.
