The thing is it's not the companies 90% of it is the driver always wanting more, Every Company has there set ways and time OTR it the way they make there money. I have been there 62 days out on the road but WOW the pay was good. I plan on returning OTR It's injoying and new way to meet people. Just remember large companies your a number not a person Have a Great day

Hey all, brand new to these forums here, so Hay :biggrin_25525:

I've read almost every post on every page of this thread and Wow... I was ready to pull the trigger on a good CDL school and get my own wheels rollin', but after reading all these jaded, angry folks' stories... Really got me thinking twice about investing in the trucking industry. Especially the part about the guys that aren't using the gov't assistance program to go through school not hardly getting hired.

I mean, I'm 27, single w/ no kids, good health, flawless driving record, very apt to equipment operation, no criminal backround and enjoys solitude. Would I really get passed over like I keep hearing about??

And to add salt to wound, even if I were hired, it would be from one of the many criminal-esque companies I keep reading about on here that would fire me / tarnish my record at the drop of a hat!

    I just don't know now...

Go to a company terminal or truck stop near you, and talk to some drivers.

These forums are good, but get out and talking face to face with people is more beneficial.

Only you can make the final decision. If you really want to give it a try, go for it. You are only 27 and single.

Honch, I wish like heck-far I would have started this sooner and while I was single. I've only been doing this for over a week, but I certainly see the appeal and my ONLY regret is having to leave the wife and son at home.

I've always loved to drive and now I'm getting paid to do it and getting to see some beautiful landscapes while doing it.

You have to take message boards with a large grain of salt. It's easy to be an extremist because you can hide behind the anonymity of the web. A lot of people sign up, complain and leave.

Best thing I did, as mentioned above, was go to truck stops and ask questions face to face. They won't sell you the line of crap a recruiter will and generally will shoot you straight.

Yeah I keep in mind that some either go online to sing praises or condemn due to personal experience, making them a loud minority, but just seeing almost 100 pages of this stuff kinda put me off there.

PS - Bigjoel, is that the same truck from "Duel"? Love that movie man.
