This broker service, KTI Logistics is terrible. I hauled 5 loads for them and 1 load was rejected at no fault of my own, after I successfully hauled 3 of them, and they stole all of the money from me because I was unable to return the load to the shipper at my own expense on the day that they wanted me to. This was valued at over $5000. The load that was refused was only contracted out for $1900. They advanced me $950 for fuel and are demanding that back, plus the money they spent on having another driver sit with the load 1 day ($700) and another driver for taking it back to the shipper ($1100). That totalled up to $1800, but some how these clowns are adding in all sorts of erroneous fees.

Why would they pay someone else to take it back and refuse to pay me for sitting with it for 2 days and hauling it there? My rate confirmation sheet only contracted me to deliver it, not return it!! I was also never compensated for detention on any of the loads that I hauled for them, although their dispatcher promised me that I would be.

These guys are terrible and they have high fees, charges, and fines and they will allow you to work for them and refuse to pay. Stay away!!

Not saying they aren't scumbags, but why wouldn't you get a new confirmation the minute the load was refused, with a new rate? The only way you'll get your money is to lawyer up. If there is ever a question about a load not addressed in the load confirmation, don't let the load off the trailer until it is.

I'm currently a Broker and I have to say that while everyone deserves to get paid for the work they do, some brokers tend to lean on the greedy side. The problem in my case is that I have a pushy authority leaning over my shoulder telling me what the "company" won't settle for.
I have often thought of going into business for myself brokering for the truckers. Just like a monthly flat rate, unlimited dispatches, with no percentage being taken each load and, knowing how brokers work, being able to haggle from inside knowledge for the absolute best rate. Are there companies out there like that for you guys? Would that be worth while to pursue?
    I'd love some feedback.

Yes there are others already offering "DISPATCH SERVICES". They find loads, negotiate rates, & do all nessecary confirmation sheets. Some charge a flat fee, some a % of load. So the only thing you can do different is to offer a better service. And from my past research there are several already doing so. Don't let this discourage you. Try talking to some of your current O/Os (if you can) & see if they would follow you.

Thanks a lot. I know that when I do something I do the best I can and work honest. I'm ok with there being other companies that do the same thing. It actually makes me feel better that that is a need(so to speak) for that slot. I really think I'm going to do it!

Even though there are a lot of guys doing this It is not a bad idea. Just be willing to work for the drivers. Charge less than 10% of the load. It is what the bigger companies basically charge. (Ironically enough it is the same as most companies profit margins) Also keep in mind do not take on too many trucks. Negotiate a good rate for you and the driver bring on enough to pay the bills and a little extra. I run the whole show for two companies with about 15 trucks. Can't complain because it pays more than my college degree in distribution and logistics for entry level. The best thing to do is to have a good network of brokers in place going in. Guys that you know pay well and on time. If you need any help on this let me know.

J.W.Jones out of Paragon, Indiana. They are a shipper that doesn't use brokers. Says so they can pay higher and quicker. I was told we would get paid uppon delivery but this never happened. Said the check was in the mail. Called back week later said putting the check in the mail immediately. After another call, and then 30 days. we had to go and pickup the check personnally. Never did get anything in the mail.

Anyone hear of or deal with Command Transportation out of Chicago(Skokie)? Seems they are trying to be more transparent than your typical broker.
