it depends upon what you are looking for.
    Here's my take....
I was a student in July of last year. I went to a so/so school that was just interested in getting me my CDL. I guess in retrospect that is their job but I felt I needed more training. Crete's training program is pretty darn good from my experience. It's about the longest in the industry; 2 months and pays the best; $500/week. During which time my trainer never slept when I drove; was always there when I had a question and was ALWAYS looking out for our safety (and his truck..haha). I felt very confident when I got my own truck that I had the skills to get by and the support was only a phone call away. I guess I got lucky with my trainer. Starting pay is 34 cpm which is far better than I found with any starter company! After one year you will get a raise that would take several years to achieve any where else.

The down side is you will need to spend about 3 weeks out each time. You WILL be passed by every other truck on the road and a few old grannies going to Sunday church. 62 mph is OK once you get used to it. I have no problems with the speed but you will have to keep the doors shut. Load assignments will never make you run over your HOS and you will always run legal both on time and weight. Safety is the key here. If you don't feel comfortable (from a safety/legal point) with an offered assignment just let them know. They will get you another. Not much waiting for next load offer. I had to wait one hour once but usually with in a few minutes.

All in all not a bad place for a rookie from my experience.

    You're welcome.
Also, one thing i forgot, you will need to make sure the school you chose is on their list of approved schools. Basically it will need to be PTDI certified.

You can get a list of approved schools on the Crete website.

CRETE changed their policies. I inquired with CRETE (attending a PDTI-approved school) and Jeff Dady (Driver Development Manager) wrote back and said new drivers must have one year of experience.
