Gee, I've been there and done that. I danged sure didn't make no piddly .35/mile to do it! Back then, I wouldn't have put the key in the ignition for such an insult!

That was what I got paid then throw in another 20% under the table for Expense we never turned in like Tolls and stuff like that it was more than JB Hunt was paying his drivers at the time. Actual pay I made during that time take home was over 1200 a week and this was in 99. Lets just say when I did have time to stop I had FUN on the road. Funniest thing about this boss was if you needed anything you asked him and you got it. My truck was known as the Beast why at the end she was sitting at over 630 HP as a test for Detroit to see if the engine would hold it and the Driveline. Consider this the rest of the company was stuck at 65 and 400 HP.

BTW 2 years Prior to this I was driving a truck that would break Triple Digits easier than most guys here never will see 70+ as company drivers. That one I topped well over 100+ a couple times fastest I ever had her was doing 28 secs a mile do the math. 850HP with 13 Double over and 3.55 and 24.5 Tall rubber and a cummins BC4 that loved to turn 2400 RPM all day long after the OH.

d o g you couldn't have said it any better. I only drove 3 years, took some time off and am getting back out there. Never was outlaw or anything but I know old school trucking from old friends. You drive to do the job. Not jump from truck stop to truck stop and whine about everything. :biggrin_25514:

The newbies are a joke aren't they. And yeah some of those drivers need momma to remind them to take a darn shower. I always wanted to know why guys think a crude remark, nasty smell or whatever makes them think I (to start with) and some of the other female drivers I know really want to get in a truck much less a bed with them. Yuck! :biggrin_2555: :biggrin_25513:

Also, newbies especially.....being behind the wheel of a very large and heavy truck ain't no place for idiots. The family you run off the road just might be your family some day. Leave the drugs and drinking at home. Do the job you are supposed to do and stop whinning about crap. OR get off the darn truck. And no I am not there for you, you are not gods gift to me, sorry to burst the bubble. And for God's sake and mine learn to use a potty or a trash can. I promise it ain't hard!:biggrin_2556: :biggrin_25521:

    Thanks again for a good post d o g. :biggrin_25514:

LOL - I think the OP watched Black Dog, with Patrick Swayze.

Guns, drugs, stolen cars! What about trailers filled with illegal mexicans? They found one of those "loads" a few years ago.

I hear of trailers with the "false walls" in the front, containing hundreds of kilos (cocaine/weed) every so often...

Good luck finding someone who will openly talk to a stranger about loads like that.

In my personal opinion most of the old school "outlaws" are out of the game for reasons already pointed out, but that don't mean that some of us younger hands didn't learn a few things. I'm 32 years old,4th generation driver. Some of my earliest and fondest memories revolve around what people call outlaws and their trucks. Sometimes you older drivers get fooled by a young guy. I know for a fact here's a few of us that know the real deal. Running thru the woods, loose leaf logs, paying cash for fuel and tolls so you can lose the ticket. It still goes on just not as much as it did in the past, and it does get harder by the day. Or so I've heard. I I don't want to put anyone's business out on the internet but I would be glad to share with you to help you with your research. You can pm a contact number. Sorry for being so long winded

ok people, she does need to define what she is looking for or that could make for a very long paper. lol but i will say this truckers stories almost always start with "your not going to believe this" and fisherman's stories start with "it was this big<------> and end with this big<________________________________________> lol
