If your running 20 hours a day, everyday, for 2 weeks; you're definitely sniffing coke, or poppin' pills.
-
And that won't last long either.....

Funny how there's no mention of scales that were out of calibration and DOT officers writing overweight tickets on empty trailers - and other such happenings that the general public never heard about. But, if truckers went around those scales knowing they were corrupt or just looking to harass truckers then the truckers got a bad rap as outlaw.
My family ran in such a way as to not always put revenue in the governments pocket. If there was a miscount, we kept the extra or sold it. Had a trailer full of such things. Truth is, we did what we had to do. Someone not paying for a load delivered might give someone a reason to be upset, yes?
I was running 2800 miles over the weekend with no drugs and still had my week to run. Nowadays, i'm fighting with a company that thinks 2100 miles a week is good, lol. Times have changed. There are stories that some tell and some that we just are not going to tell to just anyone.
Not everyone ran illegal. Heck, nowadays with all the EOBR's scalemen don't even ask to see logbooks very often any more. Since I have gotten back into trucking in the last 3 years I've had my logbook checked once-and that was a routine Hazmat check and wasn't at a scalehouse. Heck, I hear many stories that they don't even check if you have the electronics labels on the truck. And, even so, people that are on those tell me they don't log fuel stops and other things to get around them.
As for the op, a lot of terms have been used as a general term that put truckers in a bad light. The other side of the story is not well-known such as the harassment , people not paying for loads, etc.. or schemes that paid to deliver to one place, then change the destination once you got there. You had to know who you were dealing with. You had to know what came out of an area and what price before you took a load in to that area...and that was before gps, cellphones, and such. Wow, the world of reading maps, lol.
