I think it's pretty whack to get first degree murder when the two were fighting. Not to mention, according to the story, the one who used the knife was apparently worried about the tailgating. If you tailgate and kill someone you may get an involuntary manslaughter. But if you get in a fight and kill someone you get first degree murder? I could understand if somebody used a gun because that's blatant murder. But a knife could be taken from you and used on you. The only way a knife can really be used is if another person is coming after you because you have to be close enough to use it. I could see maybe 2nd degree or even manslaughter but not 1st degree.

Wow, you brought forward an old southernpride thread. He is a respected member that is greatly missed.
I think the fact that they argued for 10 miles or so, he planned on using the knife and cohearsded him to pull over. There's no set time on planning a murder. Being that he been arrested for previous assault charges, they stuck it to him. They had the option of turning the radio off. The ol' take the off ramp and back on to get away or even 911. Someone like that planned the murder long ago daydreaming going down the road. Road rage is no excuse for death and rather stupid if one thinks about it.
Some post if this, if that. The weapon doesn't matter. In fact a weapon incited pulling over. Had he not had a knife, it probably wouldn't of went that far. Anytime something like that happens, you turn the radio off and ignore the person. You never know who you are dealing with or if they are carrying.
I use to run the Eden every night. It's usually a stretch that is uneventful and no need to tailgate with multiple lanes. It started back in Chicago. -
think you might need some protection. try a flare gun like you use on the great lakes. they are listed as a signal device are legal and ##### dont shoot me with one.... not to carry hauling flammables hsz mat be smart enough to figger it out

Btw, the guy pleaded self defense. However, he was found guilty of murder and sentenced to 25 yrs. And he must do every year of it, no parole.

you cant argue with truckers, the more mud you give a pig the more they enjoy wallowing in it, not calling anyone a pig, just a comparison, clear enough.

So I take it you think all drivers out here are unarmed victims !?
Other drivers are who there are we /I cannot change them it is what it is let fight with some one else ,,I for one don't think much of some one that does not know me and there toughts of me so what does it matter at the end of the day,,,,,,As far as some one Really wanting to fight me heck I tell em the way it is " No matter how the fight turns out your going to look bad when you loose you will have had your butt kicked by a crippled up old man and If you win you will have kicked the butt of a crippled up old man " It gets laughs and ends problem's,,,in short use you witt's I have gotten old enough that win lose or draw I am going to hurt the next day even if the other guy does not even get a punch in , it just not worth it .
